Being a Scout means that you join the Scout Movement by making a Promise. You will wear a uniform, which includes a Group scarf, and a set of badges. Scouts meet once a week with a programme of activities such as outings, swimming, camping, climbing, canoeing and working towards badges.
They also have meetings with other Scouts from other groups in the District as well as joint meetings with other sections within the group.
Each new Scout will be given a badge book which will explain the requirements of badges that can be earned while in the section.
Each scout troop consists of small units of six to eight scouts called a patrol, usually led by a patrol leader. Outdoor activities feature prominently in the scout troop, with the highlights being hiking and camping. Throughout the year, scouts learn various skills, such as map reading, camp cooking and first aid in preparation for camp. In addition to a lively and varied programme week to week, our units take part in lots of district events, from hiking competitions to cooking challenges.
