Beaver Scouts are young people usually aged between 6 and 8 years old. Young people can join Beavers within the three months leading up to their 6th birthday. They can move up to the next section, Cubs at the age of 8 years. Easily recognised by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts. Beavers enjoy making friends, playing games, going on trips, helping others and camping over night, Our Beaver basic will also learn the basic information about flying and science.

Activities
The Beaver colony only does a few activities because of the age of it’s members. The main activities which are done include:
– Making new friends
– Having fun
– Indoor/outdoor games
– Learning about sharing and friendship
– Sleepovers
Cubs image
As Cubs we like to be out and about and we try to do this as much as possible, we have been on hikes, trips, abseiling and camping. Most of the activities that we do are working towards one of 7 Challenge badges and 35 activity badges, these can range from Astronomer to Water Activities, so you can imagine that we are never bored!. Our cubs will learn more in depth knowledge of flying learn to build their own plane and get the chance to do flying activities.

Scouts image
Being a Scout means that you join the Scout Movement by making a Promise. You will wear a uniform, which includes a Group scarf, and a set of badges.  Scouts meet once a week with a programme of activities such as outings, swimming, camping, climbing, canoeing and working towards badges.
They also have meetings with other Scouts from other groups in the District as well as joint meetings with other sections within the group.
Each new Scout will be given a badge book which will explain the requirements of badges that can be earned while in the section.
Each scout troop consists of small units of six to eight scouts called a patrol, usually led by a patrol leader. Outdoor activities feature prominently in the scout troop, with the highlights being hiking and camping. Throughout the year, scouts learn various skills, such as map reading, camp cooking and first aid in preparation for camp. In addition to a lively and varied programme week to week, our units take part in lots of district events, from hiking competitions to cooking challenges.

Duke of Edinburgh image
A DofE programme is a real adventure from beginning to end. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from. You just need to be aged between 14 and 24 and realise there’s more to life than sitting on a sofa watching life pass you by.

Levels
You can do programmes at three levels, which when completed, lead to a Bronze, Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

You will be working with leaders, Planning and running a session and get involved on all activities the group gets involved for, The benefit with
working with our group is your passing your knowledge and skills to people of the future.
